My Room Children’s Cancer Charity

At Tasman Butchers, community is at the heart of everything we do - and one of the causes closest to our hearts is My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.

We are honoured to be a sponsor of My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, a volunteer-led Australian organisation dedicated to supporting children with cancer and their families throughout every step of their journey.

Proudly Supporting My Room Children's Cancer Charity

To date, Tasman Butchers has donated over $310,000 directly to My Room — a contribution we’re proud to make as part of giving back to the communities we serve. Through this support, we’re helping provide care, comfort and hope to families facing childhood cancer.

What Makes My Room Different

Having a child diagnosed with cancer is a gut-wrenching experience, made even harder when the hospital room doesn’t feel like home. Rather than giving in to despair, a group of parents and medical professionals took action to create a more comforting, homely environment for families facing childhood cancer.

In 1993, they came together to raise funds to renovate the cancer ward at Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital. The project transformed clinical spaces into warm, welcoming rooms and inspired the creation of My Room—a name reflecting the belief that every child deserves a safe, comforting space during treatment.

More than 30 years later, My Room remains volunteer-led, with founding families still actively involved, and has raised over $45 million to improve the quality of life for children and families affected by childhood cancer across Australia.

What My Room Does

My Room focuses on delivering meaningful, practical support by:

  • Funding clinical care and essential allied health services for children with cancer
  • Providing financial and emotional assistance to families during treatment and beyond
  • Investing in research, clinical trials and vital equipment to improve outcomes for young patients

As a grassroots charity, My Room keeps administrative costs low so that at least 95% of every dollar raised directly supports children with cancer and their families, including essential fundraising costs that help maximise impact.

Their ultimate goal is to work toward a future with a 100% cure rate for childhood cancers — while continuing to support families today, tomorrow and into the future.
